The lights, sounds and smells of tractor fuel return to Louisville when the much anticipated Championship Tractor Pull roars into Freedom Hall. The 6,350lb Modified Tractors start the action with winners and runner-ups from around the country vying to leave their mark on the record books.
Southern Belle driven by Steve Bost won the 2021 Xcabiler Pulling Association’s points race. He’s no stranger to the Championship Tractor Pull after finishing sixth in 2020. Will this be his year to earn a Grand Champion title? Or will the honors go to the NTPA Region 2 points champion Shock Treatment driven by Michael Broughton? Title hopefuls should look out for Benjammin driven by Ben Ellis Jr. riding high on wins at both the Enderle Puff-Off and the Bowling Green National Tractor Pulling Championship.
Though the field is full of talented drivers, only one past Grand Champion is pulling Wednesday night: Ratical driven by Steve Clem. He finished out the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League fourth in points in 2021.
9,300lb Super Farm Tractors
The Wednesday night Super Farm class is absolutely stacked with talented pullers.
Every competitor needs to watch out for Checkin’ Out driven by Ryan Anderson. Not only is he the reigning Championship Tractor Pull winner, but 2021 was also a banner season for the Checkin’ Out team winning at the Bowling Green National Tractor Pulling Championship, Enderle Pull-Off and finishing first in the National Tractor Pulling Association (NTPA) Grand Nationals point race.
Points Champions abound in this class: Cruel Intentions driven by Nick Capozzo representing NTPA Region II, Farm Fed Deere driven by Jimmy Hawkins coming from the Midsouth Pullers Association, Saturday Night Hooker driven by Dan Park from the Power Pulling Production, Back for More driven by Jeff Perry of the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Midwest, Badger State’s winner Bleed’n Green driven by Jay Smithback and Empire State points champion Naturally Red driven by Elwood Sickler.
7,500lb Modified Tractors
Three Championship Tractor Pull Grand Champions return in a Wednesday night showdown. Second Degree Burn driven by Craig Corzine, the current champion, returns to defend his 2020 title. Two other Grand Champions, Dirtslinger driven by Bill Leischner (1994 and 2002) and Lucas Oil/MAV TV driven by Ricky Long (2013 and 2014) battle for another title on the legendary dirt of Freedom Hall.
All four top finishers from 2020 are back! Runner-up Giddy Up driven by Ricky Rose is coming off a solid season, finishing third in the NTPA Grand National Modified and fourth in the NTPA Grand National Unlimited classes as well as winning the Enderle Pull-Off. Third place finisher Money Pit driven by Steve Bollinger had a dominant performance in the NTPA Grand National earning a 2021 points championship.
10,200lb Pro Stock Tractors
There are a lot of unknowns in the Wednesday night 10,200lb Pro Stock class. Three always-competitive drivers pulling in this session sat out for most of the 2021 pulling season and are ready to get back behind the wheel. Last Chance II driven by Chance McGrath spent eighteen months stuck in Canada, unable to cross the border to compete. McGrath is itching to get back in competition and show his tractor’s strength. The always talented Darrin Hunt was not able to pull in 2020 and Avery Nauman’s Lil Rascal is a brand new tractor.
The tractors we do know in this class are ones to watch out for! Gang Green driven by Grey Porter dominated the Outlaw Truck and Tractor Pulling points race with nine first-place finishes, earning the points championship title. The winner from the Badger Truck and Tractor Pulling, Fuelin’ the Fire driven by Brandon Coates, is also hitting the track Wednesday night.
Never count out Tinker Toy, driven by Darryl Folz, with his four Grand Champion titles (2019, 2018, 2014 and 1998) and a knack for finding the winner’s circle.
